What is traditional Delta-9-THC?
Traditional THC, known as delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, is the well-known cannabinoid that has got people high for years. Even if they claim not to have “inhaled” 😉
Delta-9 is a cannabinoid molecule in marijuana (cannabis) that’s long been recognized as the main psychoactive ingredient. for most people, it creates various sensory and psychological effects. It affects everyone differently in varying degrees delivering relaxation, euphoria, increased sensory awareness, and for some people pain relief and other therapeutic benefits.
For thousands of years, Cannabis has been cultivated specifically for these therapeutic effects.
How Does Delta-9-THC Work?
Delta-9-THC works by attaching itself the body’s cannabinoid receptors, found throughout the brain and nervous system and altering their responses. This effect can last a few hours before fading but Delta-9-THC can be detected in the body much longer than most other drug compounds (up to 20 hours after ingestion).
Your body will store Delta-9-THC in body fat and organs for up to four weeks, sometimes longer. This is why hair follicle testing can identify Delta-9-THC use after long periods of time.
Although THC tends to be used recreationally, it also has a number of medicinal uses as well. Marijuana has been used for therapeutic, medicinal purposes for thousands of years, but research on its use to alleviate and treat illness is still relatively recent.
